Before we even arrived in Christchurch we stopped at the International Antarctic Centre and were so glad we did …

We were not sure what to expect, but it was a fun filled couple of hours - we got to experience a windstorm on the ground in Antarctica (see Ted in his parka). I have to say it was quite cold as I was one of only two people wearing shorts AND I had flip flops on to boot - but I weathered it (pardon the pun)!

We also got to see the blue penguins, learn a lot about the different countries stationed on Antarctica and their bases, were introduced to 3 huskies (damn they were big), watch a 4 D movie (yeap, that was very interactive - our seats were wet by the time the show was over), an the big treat was the simulated ride on the vehicles they use on Antarctica. It was like a ride from Super Ex and the chap driving clearly wanted to up ante with our experience … I actually had to close my eyes a few times out of fear, but it was fun overall and we survived the ride … video to follow …

Cheers
