Okay, I just had to include this in the blog as it was a hoot!
We were in Kaikoura when we read about this play in Christchurch, and we were going to be in town when it appeared, so we quickly bought tickets.
It was a hilarious evening and interesting. The performance took place in the Royal Theatre, which was stunning inside, but the seating was all ON stage and the performers ha himself set up with his back facing what would have been the normal audience seating. Apparently, they call it ‘stage house’ and it was a very interesting perspective to watch a performance from ‘behind the curtain’.
As mentioned, the show was hysterical and at a time a little sad, but it does involve a ardent cyclist and he is old, hence: Grumy Old Man in Lycra, which he renamed at the end of the performance to Gorgeous Old Man in Lycra … It was terribly entertaining and a great way to end our time in Christchurch … A wonderful city for sure!
Cheers
