As we headed to our next stop we did a quick detour to Kerikeri, which of course meant a stop at the renowned vineyard ‘Marsden Vineyards’ … The setting was spectacular and Ted even gained a fur friend who followed us as we walked the premises - wine in hand (how civilized) … I even popped into a dollar store to pick up a Christmas tree and decorations so we have the Christmas spirit as we travel around Northland.
The weather today is great and our newest Holiday Top Ten is literally 100 feet to the beach, so the next two days are veg days and sunny and of course swimming for Ted - the water is a tad cold, but its super calm, so I might even jump in ….
A quick small world story - last night Ted is chatting to a couple in the common room and guess what? They are from Wakefield and have a cottage on Lac Bernard - so, lots to chat about. They are in their early 60’s and are here to cycle top to bottom (Cape Reinga to Bluff) in 90 days … I said to the husband ‘I commend you, cause all I can muster is to drive that distance’ … Fun meeting all kinds of people from all over. Everyone is so inviting, curious to find out where we are from and hear stories - very collegial and fun …
Until the next post - which I promise will have Ted’s bird pics as he is uploading them as I type …
Cheers
Robert and Ted
